Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 2, 2026 · Last updated: August 2, 2026

This policy explains what the Itino mobile app (“Itino”, “the app”, “we”) collects from you, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Itino Android app and to this website, itino.co.

1. Information we collect

Account information

Itino uses Google Sign-In to create your account. When you sign in, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. We never receive or store your Google password.

Content you create

Everything you put into a trip: trip names and dates, destinations, places and wishlist items, itinerary stops, notes, packing and accommodation details, and expenses you log. This content is stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to our cloud database so it survives a reinstall or a new phone.

Trip planning requests

When you ask Itino to draft or optimize a trip, the text of your request — and the relevant trip details — are sent to our AI provider to generate the itinerary. If you use voice planning, the audio you record is sent for transcription and then processed the same way as a typed request. Audio is captured only while you are actively recording a voice note; the app does not listen in the background.

Technical and diagnostic data

Basic technical data needed to run the service: device type and operating system version, app version, language, crash reports and error logs, and connection status. We use this to keep the app working, not to profile you.

What we do not collect

2. Device permissions

PermissionWhy Itino asks for it
Microphone Only to record a voice note when you tap record for voice trip planning. Optional — the app works fully without it.
Notifications To tell you when a trip draft or an optimization finishes, since those run in the background. Optional.
Internet / network state Required to sign in, sync your trips, load maps and generate itineraries.

3. How we use your information

4. Service providers we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with the following providers so the app can function. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

ProviderPurposeData involved
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore) Sign-in and cloud storage of your trips Account identifiers, trip content
Google Maps Platform & Places Maps, place search and place details Search terms and map coordinates you view
OpenAI Itinerary generation, trip optimization, voice transcription Your planning request text, relevant trip details, recorded audio
Google Play App distribution and crash reporting Aggregated install and stability data

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or of Itino.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and trip content for as long as your account exists. Trips you delete are removed from our database. Voice recordings are used to produce a transcription and are not kept as part of your trip once processed. Diagnostic logs are retained for a limited period and then discarded.

6. Your rights and choices

7. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

We process your data to perform our contract with you (running the app and storing your trips), on the basis of your consent (microphone access, notifications), and on the basis of our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, fixing bugs).

8. International transfers

Our providers may process and store data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

9. Security

Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. Cloud data is protected by authentication rules that limit access to your own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

10. Children

Itino is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
